About Oscar and Annette de la Renta
See our profile of Oscar in KNOW YOUR FASHION HISTORY to understand the history of the man and his famous brand:
Their Punta Cana home is situated within the Puntacana Resort, right on the beach, between the Corales beach and Club Med Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic:

Here are some images of Oscar and Annette de la Renta’s gorgeous Colonial-style Dominican Republic home.
Apparently, after staying with Oscar and Annette, their friend and fellow designer Bunny Williams and husband John Rosselli fell in love with the location and bought a Punta Cana beach house for themselves, so there are a couple of photos from her home in the gallery below too.

This is Oscar’s second home in the Dominican Republic, not counting the family home where he grew up, before moving to Europe at aged 18.
He bought his first house, on the southern part of the country, in 1971. It was a compound in Casa de Campo inspired by Thailand, full of delicious, flowering, scented plants such as orchids, gardenia, ylang-ylang, and tuberose.

Moving to his second house, a Palladian-inspired villa, in the late 1990s, enticed by the pristine beaches of the east coast and a new luxury residential and holiday enclave in the Punta Cana area.
He tried to replicate the sensuality of the luscious Casa de Campo garden, but found the climate was different, with more wind and exposure to the elements.
And having just accepting and developing the natural palm-tree-and-grass landscape, Hurricane Georges destroyed it all in 1998, devasting the the garden, the pool, the trees, and much of the private beach. The house survived, at least.
The garden has taken 14 years to be re-established, and additional buildings have been erected, such as Casa Eliza where step-daughter Eliza Reed Bolen and her husband, Alex, stay when visiting.
Architectural Digest has an article from 2012 with more detail, as do Vanity Fair, Vogue and Hello magazines, including photographs by François Halard.
