PostHeaderIcon Chinoiserie: Asia in Europe 1620–1840

Art lovers in Melbourne: This month, the National Gallery of Victoria will be presenting an exciting exhibition displaying over 180 Chinoiserie textiles, furniture and ceramics. The exhibition concludes on March 14, 2010.

The unique European depiction of Asian artwork will be shown through pieces on loan from across Europe and the NGV’s own Asian and European collections. Make sure you do not miss this exceptional presentation at Melbourne’s premier art gallery.

For theatre lovers in Melbourne, why not support a local independent production, our dear friend, Catherine Kohlen from Act-o-matic, and have a fab night out by seeing "Falsettos" at the Cromwell Theatre, South Yarra, Melbourne.

Falsettos is a musical with a book by James Lapine and William Finn and music and lyrics by Finn, comprising March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, the last two in a trio of one-act off-Broadway plays (the first was In Trousers) focusing on Marvin, his ex-wife Trina, his son Jason, and his gay lover Whizzer Brown.

The National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, ACT, are currently presenting Masterpieces from Paris: Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne and beyond.

There’ll be no need to travel to Paris to see major and numerous works by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, Pierre Bonnard, Claude Monet, Maurice Denis Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Edouard Vuillard...for four months you can visit them in Canberra.


Australia will be the first country to exhibit these paintings together outside France. It's showing until April 5, 2010.
