Sarah's House on HGTV

We can't get enough of Sarah Richardson and her renovation show - some delicious decoration of a rundown home. She is also known for her show "Room Service", "Design Inc" and "Sarah's Cottage".

PostHeaderIcon Haute homes

Vintage has been the buzzword in fashion for some time now, so it comes with little surprise that home furnishings have followed second-hand suit.

London-based interior design duo, Tshuka, have created a unique range of exquisite cushions using classic couture materials such as vintage Hermès scarves sourced from Paris.

The cushions, which are gloriously oversized (82cm x 82cm), are also a little (gloriously) overpriced at $1,375. But let us remember that the Hermès scarf knows no peer with their incomparable silk prints and hand rolled edges.

The cushions are available to scatter at your whim from www.tshuka.com.

PostHeaderIcon Luscious gift giving: Happy Housewarming

At Luscious, we are big on gift giving. Recently however, I was posed with the dilemma of what to buy a friend-who-has-everything for a housewarming gift. When it comes to domestic enchantment, I admittedly miss the mark a little, and while I may not have yet resorted to using my oven as storage, I would much prefer to buy candles than a chopping board.

This outlook of housekeeping also means that there are a few (odd) little luscious luxuries I feel no house is quite complete without. I therefore decided to look a little closer to home (mine) for inspiration. Hope this helps those of you posed with the same dilemma.

Kate Spade playing cards:
A house isn’t really complete until there is a spare deck of playing cards in the kitchen drawer along with the set of steak knives. They are the perfect accompaniment for nights in, practicing poker faces over cocktails. Visit www.katespade.com.

A basket of scones:
So they may not last past morning teatime, but a basket of home baked delights is a gift no Luscious lady would dare turn away. Get in touch with your inner housewife, don your apron and attempt my mum’s secret recipe (the secret is lemonade). See the recipe on our Fabulous Foodie page.

A Times New World atlas:

No bookshelf or coffee table could be complete without a world atlas. An atlas is a great inspiration to daydream and have a little armchair-adventure. Our pick is the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World (Times Atlas of the World Comprehensive Edition) which is quite frankly the most comprehensive portrayal of the world available and more.

The Atlas is relied on and trusted by governments around the world and international organizations including the UN.

Nightstand carafe:

A nightstand water carafe is perfect for quenching your thirst from midnight to morning. This lovely Villa Maison hand blown carafe, with separate water glass, has the word 'Eau' engraved. Also a nice addition to a desk or guestroom (especially if you ever intend to stay). Available from Indulgence Collection and Mon Coeur.

Luscious gift giving: Tea for two

On a recent musical tour of Paris, a very luscious friend returned home with a souvenir of Mariage Fréres Tea for me. I was instantly intrigued by what I have since learnt is a French Art form!

Around 1660, on behalf of King Louis XIV and The French East India Company, the ancestors of the Mariage Brothers sailed to distant lands on a quest for new and exotic flavours. This began the tradition of excellence in taste and creativity and the birth of the French Art of Tea.

My favourite - Marco Polo Rouge - is a distinctive fruity and flowery red tea. Sharing a pot of this was just as luscious as sharing a bottle of wine!

To experience what this amazing tea has to offer, visit www.mariagefreres.com.
