MUSIC TO SCROLL BY: The Theory of Everything soundtrack

We’ve been loving this year’s crop of Oscar-worthy soundtracks, especially Interstellar (Hans Zimmer), The Imitation Game (Alexandre Desplat) and The Theory of Everything (Jóhann Jóhannsson), but this track (number 17: Camping) from The Theory of Everything is my absolute favourite.

It’s only very short but it makes me tear up a little each time I hear it. I think it’s because it’s both about the music (the cello) and the sentiment (lovers uniting after years of longing).

Do take a moment to play it, as well as the rest of the soundtrack. It’s by Jóhann Jóhannsson.

MUSIC TO SCROLL BY: Music from “The Notebook” soundtrack by Aaron Zigman

How beautiful is this music from the 2004 film, The Notebook starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, James Garner and Gena Rowlands? The score is by American composer Aaron Sigman.

Mr Luscious has added it to our music collection, and we’re playing it as he puts the Sunday night roast on. I hope you can enjoy it too.

Buy the DVD and soundtrack CD for more.

The music from “Yves Saint Laurent” by Ibrahim Maalouf is my current top pick. Very moving.

MUSIC TO SCROLL BY: Mary J. Blige – My Favorite Things

It’s cocktail hour at Chez Luscious, and Mr Luscious is in his DJ element, playing all sorts of fabulous songs from our rather large music collection.

One of our favourite tracks at the moment, is appropriately enough, Mary J Blige singing “My Favourite Things”, from one of my all-time favourite movies, The Sound of Music.

Mary has done her own arrangement of it, which appears on her Christmas album, with the rather uninspiring title, A Mary Christmas, although I wouldn’t have classed it as a Christmas song, other than it including a mention of snow.

I grew up in a musical household, and my mother and I used to embrace our inner-Julie-Andrews and sing the music from the musical a lot. Every time I hear it, it makes me a little teary. Ah, the sentimentality of a happy childhood.

Why not take a listen and pour yourself a cocktail too?

MUSIC TO SCROLL BY: The soundtrack to The Book Thief by John Williams

THE BOOK THIEF: We’ve been playing this soundtrack a LOT at Chez Luscious – it’s simply divine. Thanks to John Williams for composing such a beautiful score.

Do make sure you read the book by Markus Zusak and see the film, directed by Brian Percival and starring Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, and Sophie Nélisse. It’s very touching.

Why not play this in the background as you scroll through the rest of the Luscious website?
